Taking today off to try and get caught up with the site, emails, and everything else. My white shirt became brown as the days went by, so it was time to come to Kabale and worry about my own hygiene...
YOU are amazing and are really helping me get this together by contributing everything from the motorcycle to the chickens! I've been working my butt off up there (happily) - and with you providing the supplies - well, life is good. We're still a bit short on chickens, cows, and dresses, but all in all - we're well on our way...
First let me show you why I'm the luckiest man on the planet - the kids up there are perfect - and some mornings they run up to me and dance around, and then other days they hide... I'm still working on the trust thing, but every once in a while I get that perfect quiet moment...
The Colonel's House... I started clearing the land for the colonel's house, and before I knew it there were locals helping and the land was cleared in no time...
Then our sights were set on the chicken pen, and by day four we had it up, tied together with papyrus, and the mud nearly done... Next we add the tin roof, chicken wire, door, and create the floor... So close... :-)
I also buy lunch every day for the workers and villagers... It's not much because there is nothing to buy, but I get big jugs of porridge (the good kind with the sorghum - and yes, there IS a good kind), rolls, and biscuits... One day I didn't buy enough because two neighboring villages came in for food, and I can promise you... THAT will never happen again. Here is a typical lunch...
You may realize by now that I cry pretty easily when I'm out here... BUT, when I came home and found that Anthony borrowed my camera and did a video himself, well, you guessed it - I got all weepy... This is the guy who hikes over five hours to help his outcast neighbors...
I love these people - check back in a few days so I can show you how things are going, and once again, thank you...
