I WAS SPOONED BY A GOAT HERDER (at least his fragrance was that of a goat herder)...

...and other delightful experiences from my 36 hour overnight bus/train/taxi extravaganza getting from Rajasthan back to Delhi, but the bus was my least favorite part...

THINGS I LEARNED

1. Stepping in cow crap before getting on a night bus is not good luck like your rickshaw driver says it is.

2. If the only way to see the Taj Mahal before your flight to Nepal is to take a night bus - remember that they have a Taj Mahal in Vegas or Epcot and that it's basically the same thing.

3. Gorging on spicy food before a night bus isn't a wise idea.

4. Take ear plugs and air freshener on a night bus.

5. If you think you smell bad, it's not always a lucky break to have someone curl up next to you that smells worse.

6. The extra 12 dollars saved by riding a night bus isn't worth it.

7. Night buses can break down too.

8. Take empty bottles to pee in when riding a night bus

9. If you don't have an empty bottle and kind of pee yourself a little on a night bus next to a local spooning you, moist towelettes would be more handy than a wool sweater.

10. Three people CAN fit into a one person sleeper on a bus.

11. While on a night bus, wear a shower cap or snug baseball cap to prevent getting lice (and Nix is hard to find in Agra)

12. If you think a night bus will be a new adventure - so is parachuting naked into Kabul - and I wouldn't recommend either.
