Our next school in HAITI!
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are working on school number three in Haiti, and are looking for help!  This school is in Cyvadier, and will benefit hundreds of school children, as well as provide a center for the community, and shelter at night for families who've lost their homes in the earthquake.

We need to raise $35,000.00 for this school and are currently have raised only $4,500 - so we're not even close!  Our goal is to have it funded by August 1st, so please help if you can...

Teddy Landis School Project

THE TEDDY LANDIS SCHOOL PROJECT is in Jacmel and will be completed with the support of the friends and family of Teddy Landis - a young man in NYC who decided to take on this community school as his Bar Mitzvah project!

We will break ground shortly, and just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to TEDDY!

If you'd like to help Teddy with his school project, please click on the donate button below...

OUR SCHOOL IN CITÉ IS COMPLETE!
The school in Cite has been completed and is up and running!  Kids are back in school, the community center is re-opened, and we are all extremely grateful.  We were also informed that this was the first school to reopen in the entire Jacmel region, and possibly in all of Haiti.

This school will serve over 600 children during the days, will be a community center in the afternoons and evenings, and will be a shelter for families who lost their homes to sleep in at night.  Everyone benefits!

For those of you who have ever doubted the ability of one person, or a small group of people, to change the world - after nearly one billion dollars was raised for Haiti relief (with you helping us raise a mere .00025 of that), our school was the first to reopen.

Yes, a small group of people can make a big difference - and I jsut wanted to say a personal thank you to Andrew Treleaven and Ryan Seguin - for taking over when I was unable to physically (new surgeries start in May) finish the job... Barton

Also, our clean water program has already provided sustainable clean water for over 2,000 people in this region, and filters are still being distributed!

 UP NEXT?

Now that a few things are in place, we are going to focus our energy on two more schools.  As with our school in Cité, these two structures will be used for schools for the children during the day, and then shelters in the evenings for families who lost their homes in the earthquake.

School #2 is in Jacmel and will be completed with the support of Teddy Landis - a young man in NYC who decided to take it on as his Bar Mitzvah project!  We will break ground shortly, and just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to TEDDY!

TEDDY'S SCHOOL PROJECT - this is the current school since the earthquake -anticipated reconstruction completed in June.

School #3...  Our dear friends Nick and Gwenn Mangine, and Danny and Leann Pye have a school partially reconstructed in Bassin Bleu.  This is where we will focus our Guerrilla Aid efforts and donations this summer - to help them complete their school!

Haiti - 2.0
Our school in Cité is nearly completed, and we're wasting no time in starting our new projects.

I've been very fortunate to have two volunteers I met in Haiti agree to go back to Jacmel and finish the projects for Global Colors.  We have this school in Cité nearly done, and Andrew Treleaven and Ryan Seguin are taking over the reins with this school, while developing our two other locations.  Big thank you to them for stepping in and taking over.

Back soon for round two in Haiti!
Winding down my time in Haiti for this trip, finishing this round of water filters, getting the school on track, and happy to report that things have fallen in place.  I have Gwenn, Nick, Sarah, and Jarrod that will remain here and will finish this project in the next few weeks, with updates coming from them.

I'll be back to Jacmel with Ryan and Andrew in the next month or two to begin phase two - another school and an orphanage in Fondwa - so get ready for Jacmel Guerrilla Aid 2.0!

Thank you all for your amazing help - we'll have a school for 600 kids up and ready for the new school year, and hundreds of families with clean water thanks to you all...

I had the amazing good fortune of having two friends from my home town come and take me for a ride in their helicopter around Jacmel and the surrounding area.  You can see Cité and the site of the school, and I can't thank Jeremy and Paul enough for their kindness in taking me out for the afternoon...  See you guys very soon in St. George...

A few things that have made me smile...

Mrs. Foeldi's kindergarten class in Anaheim, CA had a bake sale for our Haiti project and purchased 25 water filters for families in Jacmel - seriously made me cry when I saw this picture...

Hard working volunteers made my life much easier here...

Due to your generosity - the greatest joy was having enough funds to provide clean water to hundreds of families in the rural areas - THANK YOU!

I have personally contributed to their projects, and CAA chose Global Colors to launch our volunteer program in South Africa and Mozambique.
