Time to put this wreck nonsense behind me and get back to work for the Batwa

Spent a few days with the nurses who took care of me after my detour - it was a much happier visit this time

The countdown to getting back on the road has begun!  After nearly 8 months the final surgery is done; it's been a very long road, but I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.  This video is getting the staples out after my last surgery - and for other delightful rehab videos over the past few months visit our YouTube account.

Journal/The Wreck
Author: Barton Brooks
In March 2009, I was on a motorcycle and hit by a truck on the Uganda/Congo border, left for dead on the side of the road.  I was recently sent some video of the site of the crash, my first night in the hospital, the medflight from Kisoro to Kampala, along with a visit in Kampala from my dear friend Anthony.

I have to say, it's still hard for me to see this footage as it brings back the panic, fear, and confusion I felt, but it will give you a sense of the wreck that has had me sidelined for a while...

I'll never be able to thank you all enough for your kind words, emails, cards, flowers, and prayers that helped me get through all of this.  A special thank you to all my friends who kept me company for the months I was in the hospital, and my eternal gratitude for my mother and brother for coming to Uganda to bring me home.

A few pics from the past few months...

If you are wondering where to help right now, a few past projects dear to my heart could use some help:

Anthony could use aid for the Batwa...
