Winding down my time in Haiti for this trip, finishing this round of water filters, getting the school on track, and happy to report that things have fallen in place.  I have Gwenn, Nick, Sarah, and Jarrod that will remain here and will finish this project in the next few weeks, with updates coming from them.

I'll be back to Jacmel with Ryan and Andrew in the next month or two to begin phase two - another school and an orphanage in Fondwa - so get ready for Jacmel Guerrilla Aid 2.0!

Thank you all for your amazing help - we'll have a school for 600 kids up and ready for the new school year, and hundreds of families with clean water thanks to you all...

I had the amazing good fortune of having two friends from my home town come and take me for a ride in their helicopter around Jacmel and the surrounding area.  You can see Cité and the site of the school, and I can't thank Jeremy and Paul enough for their kindness in taking me out for the afternoon...  See you guys very soon in St. George...

A few things that have made me smile...

Mrs. Foeldi's kindergarten class in Anaheim, CA had a bake sale for our Haiti project and purchased 25 water filters for families in Jacmel - seriously made me cry when I saw this picture...

Hard working volunteers made my life much easier here...

Due to your generosity - the greatest joy was having enough funds to provide clean water to hundreds of families in the rural areas - THANK YOU!

Everything is moving along - the school is taking shape, hundreds of clean water filters are going out, and my volunteers have been amazing.

Sadly, they have all gone home, but I'd like to thank them for their hard work and the perseverance it took to get here - thank you all - and to Ryan and Jason I say in my best French accent, "Continue..."

We've had an incredibly busy week!

We've removed all the rubble from the old school (every bit of the old school is being reused in the new one, so not only are we getting it done, but we're doing it pretty green while completely recycling!), we've dug the footings, poured cement, visited Pinchinat refugee camp, and spent time at Sister's of Charity Orphanage.

The house next door to us on Rue Petion burned yesterday with our security guard Evan's uncle inside.  Our group of volunteers sprang into action with by getting him out to the street where they covered him with wet sheets, and Gwenn got here in time to rush him to the hospital.

Unfortunately, Jean Claude (the Uncle) later died from his extensive burns, but my amazing group of volunteers spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning out the ash and water from the structure.  Gwenn and Nick have also raised enough money to completely fix everything, so despite the tragedy of losing Jean Claude, the family will be taken care of in regards to their home.  Difficult day.

Rhett and I went over to Pinchinat refugee camp, and while we were there, some group showed up and started blaring the new version of "We are the World" over the loud speaker - pretty cool to hear that song and watch all these little kids faces as we spent the evening with them.

We've also given out hundreds of clean water systems, so it's been a pretty damn good week...
